The New Generation of Lightsabers!

Hello Students! I just found a awesome link of how to build lightsabers. This is no ordinary lightsabers that is made from plastic and needed battery from the toy stores....this link, will tell you how to make the ULTIMATE REAL LIGHTSABERS!!! Folks this is a new generation of the Jedi and the toys that no one has not been inventing this new technology! Richard Laurens, the ehow contributing writer, stated: "Many manufacturers and science-fiction fans would pay anything to construct a real lightsaber, true to the "Star Wars" genre. Plastic toys and realistic acrylic blades have given the effect of a lightsaber. A real light sword, capable of cutting through most materials, is possible with current laser and plasma bottle technology. The power requirements would necessitate a thick power cable, as battery power is unable to provide the necessary current. It would take the average garage inventor several months to build this device". What Richard is saying is true. Many manufacturers and science-fiction fans would spend their money to created lightsabers that would cut anything. I just hope it won't able to slice our head & arms. To learn more on how to construct real lightsabers, Click the link below for this extraordinary tips.

Construct your lightsabers, and then you'll will have a journey between light and dark side of the force surrounds you but remember: The light will be your path, may the force be with you!

(oh and one more thing, treat your weapon well, because Anakin didn't do so well in the movies).

Signing off...

Thanks for the props. If you want to buy one, I will build it for you.

Really? How much, thanks for replying to me in The Star Warz Blog!

Not sure...a lot? lol

I've been thinking about several devices, the lightsaber being one of them. It's possible, but that doesn't mean that it is cheap.

You're basically making a portable plasma bottle, which requires a whole lot of power to contain a beam that can slice things. Best bet is to make one of those low-power DVD burning lasers, and work up from there. It would burn stuff, slice soft objects, but not have so much laser power that it would break the electromagnetic barrier.

So, there would be two high power systems involved, and you still have to figure out a way to mount the laser so the beam can get into the bottle, but not escape. Small holes and one-way mirrors come to mind.

Well...not rightly sure. A lot? lol

You would have to make a portable plasma bottle, and the primary problem would be power.

The other issue is the laser, which needs its own power. It can be made from a DVD burning laser, which makes it strong enough to cut soft objects. Then you have to figure out a way to get the laser beam into the bottle without it bouncing back out the aperture and destroying itself. One-way mirrors come to mind. Thick ones.

I've thought about this. A few seconds to a minute of beam/bottle would tax a drill battery pretty hard. Prototypes would probably plug into the wall.

So You are saying that I may have to build it by myself Richard? If it is so, I shall proceed this great objective of making light sabers for my students. Even it may cost huge money.

Well...my connection is wigging out on this post box...which is why I wrote that twice.

I think it is quite fitting that all Jedi complete the task of building their own lightsabers...it is the tradition.

It also proves a high technical skill required by all Jedi.

I'm saying if you want to buy the parts, I will do. Just depends on how far you're willing to take it.

I'll only send this post once. lol

Please, tell me what is the price for constructing the lightsaber, if it is expensive in my view, I will resume the ancient rule of the Jedi way, of what you spoken regarding building "lightsabers".

Well...

I would estimate between $500 and a grand, for something that has a visible beam at night, and can slice through electrical tape slowly.

I wouldn't wear any credit cards or magnetic items around it, either. I would start with an iron core 'U' shaped rod, wrap it with x amount of insulated wire (map the flux field in real time with low voltages), connect it to another to form an 'X', and experiment. Use different voltages, coil designs, and ways to 'drive' the coils, including car parts and large capacitors with solid state charging boards and variable capacitance.

Making the field is actually pretty easy, fine tuning it into a cone and putting a laser into it...that would be difficult.

If I were so inclined...

Or find a crystal. heh

That is enormous amount of money to pay. Perhaps in the future, a willing student may take your offer. In addition, you're very intelligent yet a smart living being.

You've really got me thinking about this now, and here are some things to think about when making a lightsaber:

The color of the beam would be the color of the laser, and using a ~540nm green beam (modded to burn) would make the beam green. Using a Blu-ray blue laser would, obviously, make it blue. I don't think DVD burners use visible lasers...but I think they are red if they do.

Making the hilt would be a really fun part, machining aluminum or copper pipe together. It would be crucial to have the handle of the hilt covered with thick rubber, and beveled away at both ends to prevent touching the metal. With the high voltages required, it could easily take the shortest path right through you.

The coil would use energy, a lot of it, but there would be a need for an 'end point' for the circuit for the juice to flow. Cars dump 70,000 volts into the spark plugs, which are basically just really big resistors. Trying to use it up would be better than trying to ground it out, or discharging it like a tesla coil. Some ways of doing this might produce scary effects, such as blue fire or small electrical discharges around the hilt, or up the "beam".

I have detailed files...and no oscilloscope. I would measure the flux field with iron filings. Take a really 19th century approach to it, without microprocessors or crazy electronics. Simple is always better.

Thanks! Just helpin out.

Nothing would say 21st century better than real Lightsabers!

As far as I know, Sith forged their own crystals while Jedi would discover theirs, causing the blade color differences. They would then meditate on the crystal, imbuing it with Force energy. This can be done with any object, obviously, and I would leave the fresh coil uncharged, holding it or carrying it around for a few days first. There is also energy in the creation of an object, so particular attention should be paid to the nature of one's thoughts while constructing the lightsaber.

Just sayin. :)

Let me know if you build one, and be careful. I left links in my name.

With your detail instructions, can make it possible to create a living weapon. Yes, Sith and Jedi uses this weapon, Sith use it too attack, however, interestingly, Jedi use it to defend their allies and their leaders, such as their Galactic Republic and its citizen, both human and non-human. The shoto lightsabers, (meaning short), both Jedi and Sith uses it as well, however it doesn't create much damage than the original. Freedon Nadd, a Jedi Knight then a Sith Lord, Used his Orange Shoto Lightsaber. I have published your comments on my blog. I want to thank you for sharing you thoughts and being supportive im my blog. If you may, I do have a task for you. You probably popular right? Please, share this blog to all your followers, too your family, friends, etc.

Richard said...

Actually, I'm not really that popular. I strive to keep myself off of the web, except for pages that I maintain. I can post you to my blogger blog, and link you on the main site.

I am actually quite private. I just love spurring ideas. If anyone comes here, reads this, and has a few hundred laying around...maybe they will be inspired to build one!

I thought out of all of the official SW canon, "I, Jedi" was the most insightful to being a force user. I don't remember the author, but it was a great read...

I read it as well, the "I, Jedi". Usually, the Old Republic keep me interested the most. You may proceed your objective. That is you posting me in your blogger. Come too think of it, I visited your blog, I think. Just too keep you update, I have posted a special Main Topic article today. Check it out here In The Star Warz Blog. All you have to do is click this link below:

If I may ask, after you read this article, share your thoughts by commenting that article. I do have a blog that regarding building things:
